For more than four decades, Bijan Sarhangpour has worked as an engineer in various roles. In 1998 he started the task of CIS Operations Manager at Cape Industrial Services. Over the next two years, he worked on numerous projects, including fabric maintenance at Chirag 1 Platform, Sangachal Terminal, Tbilisi till Supsa Terminal, and a pipeline project for BP Azerbaijan.

In 2000, Mr. Sarhangpour became the CIS Operations Director for the company and oversaw several successful projects. He used his previous experience in coating, scaffolding, insulation, fireproofing, sandblasting, HVAC, and project management to help him manage the following projects.

Bijan Sarhangpour Honors Late Son through Rouzbeh Fencing Academy

Bijan Sarhangpour (also known as Bijan Sarhang Pour) has loved the sport of fencing his entire life. Sarhangpour enjoyed sharing this passion with his son, Rouzbeh, until Rouzbeh’s untimely passing in late 2016.

Now, Bijan Sarhangpour pursues that passion, and honors the memory of his late son, through Rouzbeh Fencing Academy—an enduring testament not only to fencing, but to the friendships, thrills and opportunities fencing competition offers aspiring athletes and fans throughout the community.

Honoring Rouzbeh’s Legacy and Life through the Rouzbeh Fencing Academy

Under Bijan Sarhangpour’soversight and guidance, construction of the 1,500-meter Rouzbeh Fencing Academy was completed in February of 2018.

The Academy’s namesake, Rouzbeh, was an avid fencing competitor, having participated not only in numerous provincial, national and club-level competitions as a youth athlete, but as member of the Iranian national fencing team. As part of the national team, Rouzbeh enjoyed the opportunity to compete at the World Youth Championships in Venezuela.

Bijan Sarhangpour: The Life and Impact of Rouzbeh Sarhangpour

Isfahan entrepreneur Bijan Sarhangpour (Sarhang Pour) is the proud father of Rouzbeh Sarhangpour, a young and talented professional whose life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident in late 2016.

To honor Rouzbeh’s memory—as well as his legacy as noted fencing athlete and champion—Bijan Sarhangpour recently presided over the construction and opening of the Rouzbeh Fencing Academy, an Isfahan-based training and competition facility providing fencing opportunities to enthusiasts of all ages throughout the community.

The Life and Impact of Rouzbeh Sarhangpour

Born in Esfahan, Iran, in 1979, Rouzbeh Sarhangpour attended junior high and high school in Isfahan city. It was as a young scholar that Rouzbeh began to demonstrate both interest in and talent for a number of sports—not the least of which was fencing.

Rouzbeh competed in a number of local, national and club competitions as a young athlete, working his way up to a spot on the Iranian National Fencing Team near the apex of his athletic career.

Rouzbeh completed his higher education at institutions abroad, including courses in England, UAE, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Malaysia and Kazakhstan.

Bijan Sarhangpour: Success at the Recent International Fencing Competition

Bijan Sarhangpour sponsored and organized the recent International Fencing Competition, held in Isfahan’s Saber Arms in memory of his late son, Rouzbeh Sarhangpour.

Tournament Details

On the first day of the tournament, 11 domestic teams, two foreign teams (Azerbaijan and Iraq) and 53 athletes total competed in 191 qualifying and knockout matches.

 At the end of the first day of the Saber Arms tournament, Muhammad Rahbari’s men took the lead in a very close and beautiful game. Ali Pakdaman captured second and Muhammad Fotouhi and Matebi Abedini tied for third.

Today’s champions received $8,000. Second place received $5,000 and third-place winners received $3,000 in cash, courtesy of Mr. Bijan Sarhangpour. Mr. Sarhangpour is the father of Rouzbeh and an investor in the International Fencing Academy in the city of Isfahan province.

 The competition continues on Saturday and Sunday (October 6 and 7) at the Flora Arms.
