For more than four decades, Bijan Sarhangpour has worked as an engineer in various roles. In 1998 he started the task of CIS Operations Manager at Cape Industrial Services. Over the next two years, he worked on numerous projects, including fabric maintenance at Chirag 1 Platform, Sangachal Terminal, Tbilisi till Supsa Terminal, and a pipeline project for BP Azerbaijan.

In 2000, Mr. Sarhangpour became the CIS Operations Director for the company and oversaw several successful projects. He used his previous experience in coating, scaffolding, insulation, fireproofing, sandblasting, HVAC, and project management to help him manage the following projects.

Bijan Sarhangpour: Learn the Story of Rouzbeh Fencing Academy

Bijan Sarhangpour (Sarhang Pour) is a longtime fencing enthusiast, having enjoyed watching and competing in the sport throughout his life.

It was Sarhangpour’s passion for fencing that led to his involvement in the Rouzbeh Fencing Academy, a state-of-the-art fencing and training facility named for his late son and fencing athlete Rouzbeh Sarhangpour.

It was at a significant stage in the facility’s construction process that Bijan Sarhangpour’s help was requested—particularly in terms of financing. A noted name in Iranian fencing, Sarhangpour gratefully accepted, making the large financial contribution the project needed to reach completion and open to the public.

Because of the help of benefactors like Sarhangpour, the facility was completed, and officially opened to the Isfahan community on February 15, 2018. Among the attendees at the opening ceremony were the President of Fencing Federation, Secretary-General of Fencing Federation and the Head of the Isfahan Fencing Board.

Bijan Sarhangpour: A Passion for Fencing

Bijan Sarhangpour took to the sport of fencing at an early age—and quickly became immersed in and fascinated by the intense excitement and opportunities it had to offer.

Introduced to fencing at the age of 12, Sarhangpour’s interest and talent for the sport flourished, resulting in a youth sporting career that included not only earning a spot on the national fencing team, but also successful showings at countless fencing competitions around the world.

Initially trained at the Khorramshahr Fencing Club, Bijan Sarhangpour devoted a good portion of his youth to practice and perfecting his fencing technique. Sarhangpour’s passion soon paid off, as he reached the level of Cadet on Iran’s national fencing team by the age of 16.

Two years later, Sarhangpour achieved the first level with both the Floret and Epee—an accomplishment that not only propelled him to prominence on the national team, but paved the way to complete in numerous international fencing competitions across the world, and more than 85 medals earned throughout his career.

Bijan Sarhangpour: Success at the Recent International Fencing Competition

Bijan Sarhangpour sponsored and organized the recent International Fencing Competition, held in Isfahan’s Saber Arms in memory of his late son, Rouzbeh Sarhangpour.

Tournament Details

On the first day of the tournament, 11 domestic teams, two foreign teams (Azerbaijan and Iraq) and 53 athletes total competed in 191 qualifying and knockout matches.

 At the end of the first day of the Saber Arms tournament, Muhammad Rahbari’s men took the lead in a very close and beautiful game. Ali Pakdaman captured second and Muhammad Fotouhi and Matebi Abedini tied for third.

Today’s champions received $8,000. Second place received $5,000 and third-place winners received $3,000 in cash, courtesy of Mr. Bijan Sarhangpour. Mr. Sarhangpour is the father of Rouzbeh and an investor in the International Fencing Academy in the city of Isfahan province.

 The competition continues on Saturday and Sunday (October 6 and 7) at the Flora Arms.
